Biography
Nii Odoi Odotei is one of Ghana's leading transaction lawyers, known for his leadership and practical approach in complex, high-value deals spanning energy, infrastructure development, finance, and natural resources. Originally trained as a barrister in England & Wales, Nii is a dual qualified lawyer who brings over 25 years of international and domestic experience to the firm's leadership, and is frequently called upon to advise at the highest levels of industry.
Nii Odoi has led precedent-setting transactions including Ghana's first-ever gold royalties securitisation, a transformative sovereign finance project – the first of a sovereign in Africa; multi-billion-dollar upstream oil and gas project financing transactions; cross-border joint ventures; and acquisitions in heavily regulated sectors. He regularly advises development finance institutions (DFIs), global energy majors, state-owned entities and financial institutions on structuring, negotiation, and implementation of cross-border projects.
As Lead Counsel of the Firm, Nii oversees the firm's strategic direction and client relationships, combining his transactional depth with a boardroom-calibre advisory approach. He is widely recognised for his client-focused value delivery approach, clarity of thought, negotiation skill, and ability to bridge legal, commercial, and policy dimensions in high-stakes mandates.
He is consistently ranked by Chambers Global (2006–2025) for excellence in Corporate/Commercial, Energy, and M&A. He was also a contributing author to the Chambers Global guide on Oil & Gas (Ghana 2021 & 2022), and a speaker and mentor on legal strategy and dealmaking in emerging markets.
Nii is a licensed insolvency practitioner as well as a Notary Public. He holds multiple postgraduate qualifications in international relations and international business, energy law, and business leadership, and has trained at institutions including The Fletcher School at Tufts University, Stanford Business School's SEED Entrepreneurship, and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (USA).
Nii recently merged his passion and deep interest in global football with his legal and international business qualifications by becoming a FIFA licensed international football intermediary for footballers, coaches and clubs. He also advises on and provides representation in international football disputes in FIFA's dispute resolution fora.
